Default dr350 motard

Hello everyone. New to the website, and not sure if anyone here can help me.
Dont laugh............i want to motard my dr350 enduro model.

i have a set of gsx600f 3 spokes which seem as though they can be made to fit if a bit heavy, and i want to know if any one has done this conversion? i have seen it done with new rims on standard hubs, and with rgv250 wheels, which i think are the same sizes as the gsx ones i have (120 tyre front 150 rear). i belive i need a sprocket carrier from the dual sport to help with the chain run, and a rgv rear disc, possibly 1 front disc as well (have all the standard gsx discs but too big) so my main question to anyone who has done this is .....HOW?
i trawled the interweb and all i can find is "i done this pics " but no in depth info ie spacer sizes(and shape), any machining of the wheels needed, and the holy grail; a template of the caliper adapter for the forks (and what caliper/disc they used) any ideas? Dont have megabucks to spend and i know its underpowered for the road,(about 36 hp with pipe and mods) but she's been a good bike for years, and i dont really want to upgrade. want the look .A bit like when sad folk used to make xr3 "look-alikes" i suppose.
this is what i know so far....

the dr sprocket carrier is the one recommended for the rgv wheel conversion, as it means you dont have to have any machining done to the rgv carrier. one of the few details ive found. rgv rear disc is almost the same diameter as the stock dr disc so that should give me a fixed point on rear wheel alignment, when the disc is in place within the caliper. the info i need is how do i go about measuring gaps for spacers? what fixed points do i take measurements from? im using spare forks and swingarm as a jig to get started and using the gsx front disc, the problems seem to be
1. the standard caliper dosent sweep much of the disc, possibly due to its interior radius being for a smaller disc
2. there dosent seem to be much clearance for the relocation bracket, ie; it would only be a few mm thick so not strong enough?
this is one of my tightwad projects as the wheels cost me £15 complete and i have no intention of going bannanas on the project, just a bit of fun.BUT>>
got an industrial tribunal next month, and if i win do i throw money at it or pay the credit cards off............tricky one.
someone may have done this conversion before tried posting on tbm forum, but just repeating what i already know/suspect
any info greatly appreciated

Just going through same trials with DR350 SER and RGV250 (VJ21 17/18) wheels. Currently trying to fit a speedo drive, looks like I can modify a RGV600F, but time will tell. Currently measuring up/drawing the caliper relocation bracket as the front disc is the RGV one.

GS500 wheels are more commonly used, if no luck with the wheels you have you could get 17" rims laced to your hubs. But, as qwerty says, it's not that cheap.

well seeing as i did so well at industrial tribunal, i treated myself to a pair of WRP wheels off a drz 400 from eblag, 200 smackers went straight in perfectly aligned with the WRP spacers. front needed a bearing change and spacers making. discs and tyres were with the wheels, and line up perfectly. tyres were a bit iffy, but a whole fifteen pounds got me a virtually brand new pair of pirelli dragon sport corse from the vjmc show at leeds last month. apparently when sport bike riders get a puncture its new tyre time, but as im running tubes, its my good fortune. the rear is a 150, but somehow narrower than the one that was fitted, so i can now refit the chain guard. still a few jobs to do to finish off including picking up the header pipe from camcoat in warrington, who are ceramic coating it to look like stainless.my dr is the enduro version with no cush drive, so relacing wasnt really an option as the original wheels are rare and i dont want to lose them.however i cant find out anything about a speedo drive to fit WRP wheels, so will be using a cycle computer. discs and sprocket are husky items, so going to use the same gearing as in off road mode as i want point and squirt rather than top speed.i know its never going to be a hardcore moto, but thats not what i want or i'd have just bought one. ive had the bike a long time and its been great for me, and has evolved over time (big bore, hand made oval can, oil cooler etc). would have gone with the 3 spokes, but it was too much hassle for me in the end, so if anyone wants the bare gsx600 wheels they can have them if they can collect in manchester. hope to be finished soon if anyone's interested

If "so if anyone wants the bare gsx600 wheels they can have them if they can collect in manchester" is free, I am interested and only in Oldham. Currently waiting to MOT bike, original front wheel has loose spokes, so need to get GSX600 speedo drive re-manchined to give working speedo. looked at cycle type, but unsure how to fix magnet securelly on wheel.

they are free mate, but be sure you understand they are gsx 600f 3 spoke alloys . no bearings etc or spacers, but i will throw in 3 good discs, i think they are semi floating. i will be replacing one of the disc bolts with a magnetic bolt to use a cycle speedo, although since my new wheels are spokes, i could use the bolt on magnet that comes in the kit. will maybe take the wireless one off my mountain bike to try.

by the way i have read that to use rgv wheels you use the dr350 sprocket carrier with them, and a spacer reducer for the axle. i dont have a speedo drive or axles for the gsx wheels.

I had not considered mounting the magnet near the disc, but sounds like a good idea if I can configure the speedo head with the correct values to give me a meaningfull reading. I will make arrangements for collecting wheels to suit you, but unfortunatelly not available this week.
